Heycroft School, Eastwood 3rd July, 1999
An Eastwood primary school, running its own display, required our attendance for another Summer afternoon. Contracted to do two 20 minute displays, and set up our encampment again, the emphasis on this occasion was primarily the children's involvement and education. Considerable support for this event was shown by the local elements of the Regiment, as well as a few guest members from other Regiments who lived nearby.
A great amount of support was given to us by the PTA members, and the children enjoyed getting involved in the drill. Closely supervised, many were encouraged to try their hand at pike and musket, wearing the clothes and equipment, and at the end of the weekend, many were keen to sign up and serve Parliament in its cause against the King's tyranny. True and righteous education indeed!
